Artist of the Month Program at The Community House

 

§      The Martha Maxwell Gallery (On the second floor of The Community House) is open to

     all interested artists. Students are welcome.

§      Each exhibition is hung for one month.

§      Artists are juried on a basis of the interest of their work to the general public.

§      Most two dimensional media is acceptable within the guides lines listed below.

§      All work must be framed or otherwise property presented.

§      Artists are responsible for hanging and taking down their exhibition.

§      Work does not have to be for sale.

§      The space will accommodate about twenty 24” x 36” paintings.

§      Artists may exhibit individually or as a group.

§      There is no charge for the gallery space. There is no commission on sales.

 

Procedure for Artist of the Month

Please do one of the following: 

·      Send six images of your current work attached to an email.

·      Send the address of your web site.

·      Mail photos or a CD of your work. NOTE: You must include a self

    addressed stamped envelope for your work to be returned.

 

Include a brief description of your work with media and dimensions. If you wish, you may

include a brief biography.

GUIDE LINES 

Because The Community House is used by groups of all ages and is a non-profit organization,

the following restrictions apply.

 

All works must be larger than 10” x 14”, including the frame.

Subject matter must be within the taste all age groups.

No frontal nudity.

No overtly commercial art: No wedding photography or commercial portraiture.

Because of the size restrictions of the hallway, pedestals for sculpture are not allowed.

 

The Community House reserves the right to refuse to show any art it feels do not meet these

guide lines or for any other reasons it may find that are not with in it’s principles. 

 

Additional Information

The Community House must approve all advertising materials specifically for this exhibition.

 

Artists are welcome to display brochures, business cards, framed or unframed Artist Statement

and bios. A table is provided for this purpose.  These may also be hung on a wall hanger.

 

Artists must supply their own insurance and sign a hold harmless agreement.

 

Interested parties will be given the artists contact information for the artist to personally handle

any sales.

 

Opening receptions that are to include food or beverage must be arranged with The Community

House catering department. There is a $900.00 minimum.
